This was the t-shirt logo for our second race. I’m not sure what we were going for with this design. I think that this was originally a piece of clip-art that we used on “Caution — Runners” signs the first year.
Flashback — 2005
The Bellwood Daze River Run began in 2005 as part of the Bellwood Q125 celebration. The idea for the race goes back to the 1980 Bellwood Centennial celebration. Several members of our family ran in the 10-K race, and have continued running in races over the years.
Twenty-five years later we decided to restart the event with the help of the Bellwood Daze committee. That first year we had two races: a 2-mile run/walk and a 5-mile run. In 2007 the long run was increased to 6 miles — turning around near the Platte River — and we added a kids half-mile run.
Race postcards have been mailed
Over the Memorial Day weekend we mailed out race announcement postcards. (See included image.) These postcards will be placed in area businesses later in June.
We sent these out earlier than in past years in order to promote the date change for the Bellwood Daze celebration. This year Bellwood Daze will be the last weekend of July — Friday, July 29 and Saturday, July 30. The car show will be one week later on Sunday, August 7.
This year the postcards do not have an entry form printed on them. To register for the race:
- Download and print an entry form from the website
- Register online
- Request a paper form be sent by postal mail
See the website for more information.
