The Bellwood Daze River Run began in 2005 as part of the Bellwood Q125 celebration. The idea for the race goes back to the 1980 Bellwood Centennial celebration. Several members of our family ran in the 10-K race, and have continued running in races over the years.
Twenty-five years later we decided to restart the event with the help of the Bellwood Daze committee. That first year we had two races: a 2-mile run/walk and a 5-mile run. In 2007 the long run was increased to 6 miles — turning around near the Platte River — and we added a kids half-mile run.
